Moving and not sure where to begin?
Follow these five steps to make the move into your new home stress-free and an absolute breeze!
1. Connect Your Internet and Utilities
Once you move, you will have to connect your utilities. The utility company will need your new address, your preferred connection date, contact number, and identification.
2. Change Your Address
In order to change your address, you will have to go to USPS.com/move to change your address online. This is the fastest and easiest way, and you immediately will get an email confirming the change. You will also need to be sure to also update any magazine or box subscriptions, car insurance, and registration provider, driver’s license, your details on the electoral roll, and of course your bank.
3. Update Your New Contact Info
Another important change to make besides officially changing your address is to update your friends and relatives. All you have to do to notify the ones that you love is by sending a quick text message or email to let them know what your new address is.
4. Pack An Un-Packing Box
One of the first things that you will need to pack when moving houses is an unpacking box. This is the box that should contain Allen keys, any tools that you might need to construct the furniture that was dismantled in the move, scissors, screwdrivers, masking tape, dust cloths, and glue. Having these items all in the same box will save you time and your sanity when setting up your beautiful new home.
5. Pack a First Night Box
Not only is the unpacking box important, but it’s also important to have a first night box. The first night box is essential to a successful move. It should contain a change of clothing, basic toiletries, toilet paper, pajamas, towels, bed linens, and any other essentials you might need to get you through the night. This will make such a tremendous difference when you aren’t frantically searching through millions of boxes at midnight trying to find just your toothbrush.
