People from all over Central Florida come to Mount Dora to visit the historical landmark, the Mount Dora Lighthouse. The Mount Dora Lighthouse is located next to the marina and the boat ramps. This lighthouse is even a close walk to the Mount Dora Lighthouse. It stands at thirty-five feet tall and is built of bricks. Another fun fact about the Mount Dora Lighthouse is that it’s the only inland freshwater lighthouse in the entire state of Florida. This just happens to also be a gorgeous part of Mount Dora to visit.

The new Wekiva Parkway that has been in the works for a while now will make traveling to and from Mount Dora much easier. Wekiva Parkway is a convenient extension of state road 429. Some of the positives to this project is that this toll road will link to Seminole and Orange county. Not only will the Wekiva Parkway have these connections, but it will help reduce traffic tremendously. The Wekiva Parkway as a whole will officially be open to traffic at the end of 2021.

 

Wekiva Parkway and Being Environmentally Friendly: 

During the build of this project, it was important that they made sure that the Wekiva Parkway is environmentally friendly. There is about 3,400 acres of land for conservation. The builders of the Wekiva Parkway also made sure that they will have many wildlife bridges. Not only will it provide wildlife bridges, but the wildlife bridges will also be lifted so that accidents between traffic and wildlife will be increased tremendously.
